One veteran MLB reliever is able to file his retirement papers.
The San Francisco Giants introduced in a launch on Saturday that they’re signing right-hander Sergio Romo to a minor league contract with an invite to spring coaching, a symbolic transfer, as Romo will formally be retiring as a member of the Giants throughout their closing spring recreation on March 27 at Oracle Park.
It’s a becoming profession ending for Romo, who turned 40 earlier in March. The reliever pitched for the Giants over the course 9 seasons (2009-16). That included an All-Star nod for his work through the 2013 marketing campaign, plus contributions to a few separate World Collection titles with the Giants (2010, 2012, and 2014).
Maybe Romo’s most memorable second within the bigs got here within the 2012 World Collection, when he recorded the ultimate out by fanning Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, then the reigning AL MVP.
